[3/3/23]
After posting the first 3 posts which were about the teaser, I needed to think of a way to introduce the actual project. One account that I instantly remembered was Ariana Grande's promotion account for her album 'Sweetener' (2019), which had pretty collages like this:
I understood the basic idea of what I needed to do and I immediately started getting on it. I picked out perfect pictures that I'd need to remove the background of and make into stickers and put them together to make a collage.
This is the interface of the app called Image Combiner, however it had a nice feature of removing backgrounds for free, which I required since picsart did not do it for free. I used the Auto-Remove AI feature and then cleaned it manually myself so the outlines looked natural.
This is the sticker after I've removed the background, which still in the app. All these are the stickers I then proceeded to make:
I left the background outline on some of them since I wanted to add a torn paper effect first however later I realized that a normal outline edited onto the picture would also look nice.
Then I needed to find a base picture to paste all the stickers on. For that I googled lights pictures and found this : Using the imagine combiner app, I put 4 of this same picture above each other so I'd be a long picture:
This way, a lot of the squares on the Instagram account would be covered up. Now after uploading everything I needed onto picsart, I started editing the stickers onto the base picture, one by one, filling up the voids with picsart's own stickers which I tried to find under the 'vintage' category. In the end, I came up with this:
All the stickers were added with a film grain, so the color grading would stay the same. I then also added the project logo at the bottom of the picture as we wanted the project to have its own branding. The black at the end of the picture, at the logo area, was necessary as I needed it to blend with the already existing 3 posts. I added many lens flares throughout this collage as it just brings a pop of perspective to the picture. Lastly, all stickers had an edited outline so they actually looked like stickers and I made gray the color of it as it seemed very natural.
At first the logo was on a beige background, but since it wasn't clashing well with the rest of the layout, Yumna suggested I do black and it worked.
The black fade wasn't looking that natural either so I decided to scrap it and put the black one instead, which had a grainy film effect as to match the collage:
At the very top of the collage, I added a flower sticker where only half was visible, so I could put the second half on the next picture I was going to post, which is most likely going to be the soundtrack. I remembered the flower under the category 'vintage rose pink', where the sticker will act as a transition from the collage to the next picture.
